I don’t know what it is about Japan that makes it so perfect for street photography. If you’ve never been to Japan, you’d assume it’s because Tokyo is one of those megacities with the perfect combination of skyscrapers and hasty city dwellers that feature heavily in street photography. But I can assure you, that’s not it.
Even outside of Tokyo – or any of the other Japanese cities – I keep finding these stories that I want to capture. There is something so super-ordinary yet so special about the country and its people that make me want to snap even the most mundane moments. I wonder though, if it’s the same reason why Japanese tourists take snapshots of literally everything when they come to visit my country.
